There are so many wonderful things we could say about this newer addition to Lake City! Halpatter Brewing Company’s doors have been open for about a year and a half now, but they have built a community atmosphere that feels much more foundational to who we are as a town than other places that have been around for a longer time. This wonderful watering hole is located right in the center of downtown, in an old renovated school building next door to the Courthouse and other historical landmarks (like the currently-under-reno Blanche Hotel).

It’s best to start up top and take a tour of the entire property. You’ll find a gorgeous bar with custom built fixtures and accents that just make a local place feel so unique. Grab a Halpatter brew and check out the ball room, ping pong table room, and then make your way downstairs to the beer garden. There’s cornhole, giant jenga, a new stage for entertainment, and lots of seating!

While Halpatter specializes in locally crafted beer, they don’t disappoint when it comes to grub. Their charcuterie plates are glorious, both in quality and quantity! You’ll find local cheeses and meats paired with fruit, olives, giant pretzels, and other pairings that hit the spot. If you’re in the mood for a flatbread, we suggest the Brisket board- a perfect crust smothered with barbeque sauce, mozzarella, in-house brisket, smoked gouda chunks and pineapple.

One of the best things I overheard one of owners, Chris, say one night to some local patrons is that it’s never been about the beer- he doesn’t care you if you buy any beer. He just wants people to come and join in on community, and that’s exactly what you’re going to find when you hop on over to Halpatter!
