MArion Street Bistro and brewhouse

Lake City – Steaks – Burgers – Salads – Gastro Pub

Our  REview

This delightful establishment came onto the scene about 6 years ago, having fully renovated the building on the corner of Marion Avenue and Hamilton Street. Taken on by the man who also owns The Tavern, this restaurant celebrates the history of Lake City while creating a history of its own. When you walk in your eyes will be met with old brick, Lake City news articles and relics, a gorgeous open kitchen, a beautiful bar with a small stage next to it, and comfortable lounge seating. If you take a right turn and keep walking, you’ll find yourself in the Marion St. Speakeasy, which is hidden from street view. This space also has a full bar, a stage, and room to sit and stand (or dance, which has been known to happen a time or two).

Instead of saving the best for last, I’m going to start off with my favorite thing to eat at Marion St.- the house smoked wings. I didn’t even know such a thing existed before I had these, but they definitely changed my life as far as wings go. They are smoked to perfection leaving the outsides crispy, while the meat inside is tender and juicy. I recommend getting these tossed in cajun butter, and asking for a side of lemon garlic butter and ranch for a flavor combination that is quite possibly too good.

If soup and flatbreads are what you’re looking for, I suggest pairing their french onion soup with the roasted pear and gorgonzola flatbread. The french onion soup is done classically well, with that hefty portion of mozzarella melted on top. The flatbread is topped with port wine poached pears, house-caramelized onions, fresh arugula, candied walnuts and gorgonzola cheese with a house-made fig and balsamic reduction drizzled on top.

Another favorite is the Lake Desoto Dip. The last time I had this, it was so perfect that my plate looked like it had been cleaned by the end. Anytime rib eye is involved in a meal, I’m in, and their ribeye is cooked to perfection and perfectly sliced with American cheese and au jus sauce. This sandwich comes with waffle fries, but you can get a kale and quinoa salad for only a dollar upcharge.

There are so many good dishes at Marion St., but make sure to hear the special of the day before you make your decision, as they are often creative and quite good. Of course, you’re going to want to end your meal with a dessert, and may I suggest the creme-brulee? It’s just the right amount of sweet-and-creamy to cleanse the palate after a hearty meal
